Fiber feels like wool. dark grey fibers are pilled and fuzzy. Pink clear bag included with stickers and a tag. Red NASA inspection sticker; maintain clean, JSCM 53228, Dec 3 1990. Suit, Advanced Crew Escape

Description 60" long by 56" arm span wide, navy blue nylon suit. Item was mislabeled as a Gas Container Suit in shipment documents but after careful inspection sewn label identified garment as an Advanced Crew Escape Suit. It is size medium. Manufactured by David Clark Co., Inc., May 1994. Model Number: S1035. Item is in good condition (visual appeal).

Purpose Advanced Crew Escape Suit systems are necessary to maintain a survivable environment for launch and re-entry. Among other attributes these suits provide emergency breathing and pressurization up to a certain altitude. The S1035 ACES first flew aboard STS-68 in August 1994.

Description 40" long yellow and white fabric pants with four metal grips attached to four gross-grain straps. Yellow fabric is urethane coated bladder fabric, white fabric is nylon with some TMG patches. Item has been patched on the inside yellow fabric. Writing on the inside; LTA 1042. Other writing not readable. Item is in above average condition.

Purpose The lower torso assembly is part of the Extravehicular mobility unit or EMU, which is known as a space suit, and is located below the waist. The Lower Torso Assembly is removable and adjustable to fit multiple astronauts’ sizes. The piece shown here is one part of many layers within the torso unit. It is the bladder layer made of urethane-coated nylon. This layer keeps the correct pressure for the body and holds oxygen for breathing.
