Purpose Arm sizing inserts are fabric rings of varying lengths that are used in the arms of spacesuits. Spacesuits have to be a perfect fit for each astronaut. Rather than creating entirely new suits for each astronaut the arm sizing inserts are attached or removed from one suit, depending on the astronauts needs, so multiple people can use the same suit. The insert is laced into the arm of the suit. This makes it easy to remove later if the next astronaut to wear the suit requires a shorter length in the arm.
