Description 21" X 16" Asahi Shimbun Japanese Daily News Newspaper page mounted on cardboard. August 2nd, 1969. Significant yellowing is present, almost brown. Some fraying is present along edges. Wrinkling is present is located at the bottom, right. Tape remnants are on the back. Item is in average condition.

Description 23" X 15" Chicago Daily News. Upper Front: The newspaper has been folded into an awkward and permanent form. A large and faded colored photograph takes up most of the page. Off to the left the pictures' title "Man was here" introduces a bio to which the pictures on this page are described. Two paragraphs bottom the title, the first reads "Man accomplished the greatest achievement in his history last week-" (For more about the paragraphs see the picture or contact Outreach Staff) The upper front outer edge is crinkled and slightly dirty. Lower Front: Two photos make up the lower front page and the one to the left is colored with Neil Armstrong in the shadow of the lunar module, below it reads "In the bluish-green shadow of the lunar module, Neil Armstrong takes man's first historic step on a world other than his own." To the right a black and white photo of the planet Mars is seen with a brief summary, it is titled "...Will he visit here next?" There are faint black discolorations toward the top of the lower front. Item has 10 pages. Item is in common condition. Chicago Daily News, 1969.

Description 14.875" X 12" Chicago Daily News. Upper Front: Relevant NASA portion is at the top of half of the front cover where it reads "Armstrong: man of 2 worlds." 3 colored pictures are shown of Neil Armstrong, a moon landing site area, and the Planet Earth. The pictures have slightly faded since original publication date. Below the pictures it reads "Color photos of Neil Armstrong in lunar module on the maon; a moon landing site area (center) as seen by astronauts from 69 miles up; and the Earth-Africa, Europe, and Asia--from 112,000 miles away. The pictures, all taken on the recent historic voyage to moon, are from World Book Science Service." The inner edge is traced by a pink streak. Upper front is mostly clean with minimal tattering and a hole under the apostrophe near the large 72. Lower Front: There are a few rips toward the very bottom of the page with orange stains. Description 16" X 12" Chicago Sun-Times. Front: CHICAGO SUNDAY SUN-TIMES. The front cover article is titled "Earth's first look at moon rocks." Off to it's right side Terry Slezak is pictured with moon dust on his fingers, which he obtained by touching Neil Armstrong's camera film magazine. The pages are ruffled to the point that you can see them behind the front cover. Slightly crinkled. This newspaper cover proclaims to be Page 128. Back: More crinkly than front cover, with rips towards the top. Item has 4 pages. Item is in good condition. Chicago Sun-Times, 1969.

Description 12.625" X 10.375" Chicago Tribune. Front: CHICAGO TRIBUNE. SECTION 7C/JULY 13, 1969. MOON LANDING GUIDE. At the very bottom a small paragraph reads "As man gets ready to take his first steps on THE MOON, the Tribune is providing this special guide for armchair astronauts. Here is a detailed look at the moon, plus maps of the lunar surface and the scenario for history's greatest space feat: the Apollo 11 moon landing." On the front cover there is an exceptional amount of crinkling with tattering along the spine. The image is a cityscape with the moon enlarged, the buildings black, excluding the lights from their windows. The center has a fully splitting crease. Back: Two images make up the top and bottom of the backside. Middling them a white strip describes both pictures "Dress rehearsal for the moon landing: On a mockup of the lunar surface at the Manned Spacecraft Center, Houston, astronauts practice for the July Moon flight. The Apollo 11 crew: From left, Neil A. Armstrong, commander; Michael Collins, command module pilot; and Edwin E. Aldrin Jr., lunar module pilot." The back's upper left corner is missing, the page itself is crinkled throughout, and both photos have their backdrops fading. There is an abundance of large holes on it's back page. Description 14.25" X 11" Chicago Tribune. Page 1 Upper Front: In red letters it reads "A special souvenir supplement and poster" and below that in black it reads "Early in the morning of July 16, 1969, the three men at night blasted off from Cape Kennedy, Fla., atop a 363-foot long rocket" (For rest of paragraph see picture or contact Outreach Staff). To the right of the previously stated paragraph, there are three colored pictures of the astronauts who succeeded in landing on the moon, including Neil A. Armstrong, Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr. and Michael Collins. The bottom half of the upper front is black and the beginning og the cover picture, it has big white letters saying "MAN ON THE MOON", and the portion is extremely crinkled. The edging overall is slightly tattered. Page 1 Lower Front: Displayed is the rest of the picture, it shows a darkened moon surface with an astronaut walking with equipment in hand. The picture has map marks. The bottom left and right corners are bent. The upper part is crinkled and the top left corner is buckling. Page 2 Upper Front: On the top left corner there it reads "The American Paper for Americans" and on the top right it says "MOON FINAL." This Newspaper copy is dated MONDAY, JULY 21, 1969. The article's title is "FLY U.S. FLAG ON THE MOON, First Picture on the Back Page." Page 2 Lower Front: The Newspaper proceeds to preview the article "Houston, July 20 - Man set foot on the moon's surface tonight. The historic moment came 3 hours and 16 minutes earlier than scheduled when Neil A. Armstrong descended the ladder of the Apollo 11 lunar landing module-" (For rest of article see picture or contact Outreach Staff). Below the article preview it says "The Full Story Begins on Page 2" and "Here is how the Chicago Tribune announced the success of the moon flight. The page is reproduced as a unique souvenir of that historic feat." Back edging is still neatly intact, minus the lower right corner being bent. Item has 8 pages. Item is in common condition. Description 15.25" X 11" New York Daily News. Front: The front is titled "MAN Lands on the MOON" The picture is that of the moon , space, and a cartoon lunar module appearing to be on the moon. Other than being faded since it's date of print and the yellowish tint, the front is pretty clean minus some minor scuffs. Inside: The top starts with a heading titled "First Words From the Moon..." (For more see picture or contact Outreach Staff) Middling the page are 3 photographs of the Apollo team. At the bottom there is an article titled "Man in Moon Has Two Visitors" and it starts with "Houston, Tex., July 20-Man landed on the moon today." (For more on article see picture or contact Outreach Staff) This page also has a yellow tint, with minimal tattering around its edges, but the ink from other pages has left marks. Item has 32 pages.
