Purpose NASA does many experiments and research and records many of their findings. In order for computers onboard a space shuttle to be able to store countless hours of video files, they must be compressed. SSV (aka Sequential Still Video) compression encoder’s are used to store video files. The encoder edits the video down so it is able to be stored while taking up less space than traditional video files.
