Purpose Crew members aboard a space shuttle select their clothing far in advance before they launch and go to space. They are given a limited supply of clothes which are worn once and after a period of 3-10 days, depending on the garment and activity, disposed of in a bag. The thermal bottoms seen here would have been worn depending on the preference of the crew member and whether article was suitable for his job.
